At Synermetric we are great fans of transparency and the sharing of knowledge. It governs how we run our business inside and out. It's why we strive to work in partnership with our clients, and why we release our eBooks full of expert articles for free. In the 'Behind the scenes' series we aim to give you a clear view into how our company operates and the founding principles that guide our decisions.
In this installment, Product Manager Ruth Gibson explains Synermetric's emphasis on best practice, and how we can help you achieve maximum benefit through appropriate training.
Why would I want training?
We offer training because we believe in best practice and supporting our clients to get the most out of the assessments and services we offer. Sometimes training is optional but available to assist new practitioners or people unfamiliar with a particular assessment's unique points; in other cases, training is a mandatory requirement before using an assessment. Regardless, training provides individuals with the means to quickly become both competent and confident in using an assessment to ensure that benefits are gained straight away.
How does training work?
Training for a particular assessment is always carried out by knowledgeable practitioners and professional trainers experienced with the assessment. We take care to make sure you’ll be in good hands. In fact, you can see the credentials of some of our trainers on our Experts page.
Some of our training takes place in regular face-to-face sessions, but others run online in a number of shorter sessions. We're happy to arrange something that suits your particular needs.
How long are the training sessions?
They can be anywhere from a few hours to four days, depending on the specific training requirements. For example, to become certified in the British Psychological Society test user personality (TUP) and test user ability (TUA) will take four days. Many of our assessments accept these certifications to fulfill their training requirements.
The BPS course does take longer than some other assessment-specific courses which are, on average, 1-2 days long. We try to be as flexible as we can, as we know your time is precious.
Which assessments require training?
About half of our products currently require training. This is due to their subject, complexity, and requirement for feedback to a group or individual. If you're browsing our product catalogue we make it clear on the product page if training is a mandatory requirement before use. In some cases, if you are already test user personality (TUP) or test user ability (TUA) certified the assessment's own training may be optional, so it is worth mentioning any test credentials that you carry.
It's also worth noting that regardless of requirements, you can receive training on any of our products, and we are more than happy to assist with any best practice enquiries.
Are there any pre-requirements for training?
No! Some training courses require that you complete some pre-reading which will be provided in advance, but other than that there are no prerequisites to meet.
How do I arrange a training session?
If you have a specific product you're interested in training for, you can request training directly via the 'contact us for training' button on the product page; or, just contact us here and we'll be happy to help set something up.
